For those who write online articles, it makes sense to choose an article directory site that will do the distribution work for you, and also one that has decent traffic counts. In other words, it needs to be a leader in the field, well known in the online article world. There are only a few of this caliber, even if there maybe 1000s of copy companies attempting to be something similar. Not long ago, I was speaking to an Internet Article Marketer, someone just starting out and he asked about this.
He said something to the effect; you know there are hundreds and hundreds Internet article directory sites online these days, should I submit my 1 article to 50 or 100 websites? Well, this is indeed an on-going debate discussed at various online marketing blogs, and forums, another debate is whether one should submit 30 articles to one website or one article to 30-websites, and the answers and opinions to that question are literally all over the board.
Okay so, yes, I see that there are hundreds of article directories online and many come and go. Here today, six months later they aren’t there, but I only use one. In fact, I won’t even post on another article directory site (only my favorite one), unless they reject one of my articles, and rather than not using it or deleting my hard work, I’ll post it on one of those other websites. That is if I have to make too many modifications to it to get it to pass.
Some people believe that they should post their articles on 20 different article directory sites. But why bother if you go to one of the top online directory article sites – your article is more than likely to be picked up by other people anyway. And it might get into an electronic magazine or e-mail newsletter from the industry that you are in. I hear a lot of people are into that link theory, that is to say by putting your articles at multiple sites you get more relevant incoming links.
Okay, I see that point, but really if someone takes your article, and puts it into an e-mail newsletter somewhere, and everyone else in the industry decides to take your article and put on their blogs, websites, or make mention of it, and if they leave your link to your website along with your name on it, you’re going to get additional links anyway, all incoming. And much more relevant and quality links that some of these third-tier online directory sites which grow like weeds for one season or two and then are plucked from the search engines or the owner allows the domain to expire, then where is your digital stepping stone real-estate I ask?
The funny thing is, my websites were at the top of the search engine, and have been for over 10 years most of them, I hardly need any more links, that I don’t need any more anyway. Not that I need them, they just happen to exist now from me writing so many articles. Most people would die to have that many incoming links, I just don’t care really. I want relevant targeted traffic, and my article writing has been very successful and providing me with the flow I need for what I am doing. Please consider all this.
